The Forest Sauna is an authentic outdoor sauna facility located in the campsite "Yoshiwara Gonbe Mura," not far from Kurokawa Onsen. Utilizing a genuine Finnish wood stove, you can enjoy a self-poured löyly, warming up your core from the inside out. After a thorough warm-up, immerse yourself in a natural cold bath fed by the underground spring water born in the Kuju Mountains. Experience a lavish lifestyle in the forest surroundings while enjoying the unique experience of taking in the forest atmosphere. Come and experience the bountiful sauna, nestled in the natural beauty of Minamioguni. (The Forest Sauna is a unisex private sauna where swimsuits are required.)
An authentic Finnish-style sauna wood stove
・・・The crackling sound of burning wood is soothing, and our wood stove gradually warms the body. We use an authentic Finnish-style wood stove manufactured by MONDEX. Detoxify your body by pouring löyly rising from sauna stones stacked in the wood sotve. (You can also experience löyly infused with aroma water made from Minamioguni cedar.) Enjoy a meditative time facing your body and warming up while gazing at the flames of the burning wood.
Natural cold bath with water from the underground springs of Mount Kuju.
A luxurious bath using the soft natural underground water unique to Kumamoto's Aso, the "Land of Water." After the cold water bath, indulge in a shinrin-yoku, a Japanese mindfulness practice where one is immersed in nature or “forest bathing” amidst the expansive keyaki (zelkova) forest. Sway in a hammock, releasing your body as if tickled by the sound of the leaves in the wind. Allow yourself to be guided by nature into deep relaxation.
Stone bath.
After the sauna, you can enjoy a stone bath. We provide shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and a hairdryer for your convenience, allowing you to refresh and cleanse away the sweat. (Please note that the rock bath is not a hot spring.)

The Forest Sauna is exclusively available for guests staying at Hatagoyomi as a guesthouse facility , from early morning until 9:00 AM and in the evening from 5:00 PM onwards. The operating hours of the Forest Sauna may vary depending on the season (Summer: April to October / Winter: November to March / Subject to weather conditions). Please inquire for details when planning your visit.
AFTER SAUNA
After your sauna session, refresh your sharpened senses with some delicious hydration. We offer pesticide-free yuzu sour, additive-free umeboshi (pickled plum) sour, and Kurokawa Onsen craft beer. These delightful sours use organic yuzu syrup and umeboshi from Nanairo Garten, providing a satisfying treat for your body. You can also opt for these sours with soda. A selection of other soft drinks is available as well.
